Lugh, paladins don’t get extra damage from sneak attacks, but they can still get the +2 to hit from the combat advantage.
As for the principle, it’s Day’l’s own fault. He knew she was free, he knew there were all these weapons lying unattended on the floor, and still he takes his turn making an Alchemy check. Few paladins would fail to respond to such an insult with all the vigor it deserves. Certainly no fighter would, and if Becky didn’t know she was a paladin, Day’l’s best guess would probably be that she was a fighter. So, attacking from behind or not, Day’l should know that this blow is coming. He’s earned it.
Maybe they can toss Day’l into the portal and leave him trapped in there with Disparoxus.
