In that last panel, I was going for that whole slightly embarrassed yet happy feeling you get when you see one of your old elementary school teachers as an adult. I don't care how hardened you are, if you run into your old kindergarten teacher, you instantly turn into a 5-year old again.

Next week is Christmas and I will be taking that week off, partly for the holiday itself and partly to get some more strips drawn so that I don't fall behind like I recently did. New strips will resume on January 8th. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Take care,
~Rob

Merry Christmas, to you and your family. These holidays are always better when you have little kids, but you already know that. Have a safe New Year.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Rob–enjoy your family time, and we will see you in ’13!
Oh, and as someone who went back to teach in the school where he graduated and ended up with former teachers as colleagues, I’d say you captured Philo’s mixture of feelings quite well!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! My comrades and I have the watch. Stay safe.
My mom started working at my Elementary School when I was in 2nd grade [kind of cool side story Channing Tatum was one of the students in the Kindergarten class she was assistant in] and was still working there when I was in HS [by that point she was no longer a Teacher’s Aide she was the Data Processing Clerk for the School] and I would sometimes drive from HS to my mom’s school to have lunch with her [which I still did after I graduated and worked down the road from her school],..she would usually have lunch in the Teacher’s Lounge and we would routinely see my old teachers. Thing is all my teachers [and my mom] are short women and by Jr High I was already 6ft tall so I towered over all of them. That was also the time I started doing RenFaire and Pirate Faire so to make matters worse sometimes I would be in my gear doing a “dress practice” for my fight shows,…. on those days I would be dragged from class to class to tell the kids about the upcoming Faire. So yeah I constantly had that look on my face when I visited mom at the School.
What’s the saving throw you roll versus attacks on your cool and composure? Because he totally blew his. 😀
“… if you run into your old kindergarten teacher, you instantly turn into a 5-year old again”.
Are you sure? I for one don’t even recall my kindergarten teachers and the teachers I recall from primary school for example… I don’t have any sort of tender feelings, really.
You must have enjoyed school and that is simply sick, sorry.
