I think this'll be the last day to put in your two cents on a possible 5th party member of URAC47 (Unnamed Royal Adventuring Company #47), also known as Dhur and His Amazing Friends. ;) Now mind you, I'm not saying that I'm going to take every suggestion, which is kind of impossible. What I am saying is that I see this strip as much yours as mine (in some ways, even more so) and I value your input greatly. Only thing I'm ruling out right now: gnomes. Not that I have anything against gnomes as a player or a DM, it's just that I already have two characters under 4 1/2 feet tall, don't need a third one.
If a new party member is brought in, I'm leaning towards a divine character type, as Ch'p only minored in healing and we've seen how well that's worked out. Just throwing that out there.
Have a happy Friday the 13th everyone, and I'll see you on Monday!

Butโฆ No gnome mage riding into battle on Dhur’s shoulders, whipping him to get some more speed? “Yee-hah, almost in Color Spray range! Faster Boy!”
No crazy gnome illusionist? Those are always fun! I think it needs to be a wizard type, although a healer would be good, too.
I stand by my choice: A priest of luck and chance that doesn’t always listen to his own wisdom.
I agree with a cleric as a choice, but not necessarily a cleric of Luck. Maybe a female priestess of Gruumsh who develops a crush on our intrepid barbarian, and whose “healing” works…but few people are willing to withstand the pain.
As a contrast to Dhur, the priestess could actually be quite intelligent and well-spoken, as well. (Plus, one moron per party is funny…two morons out of five people brings the comic too close to reality to be funny. ๐ )
How bout a combo between a monster and a divine healer? Gnoll Druid? Reason he’s with them? Dhur secretly has 10 ranks in handle animal and this guy took natural spell. He then forgot how to turn back into a gnoll. It’s be funny. Animal the heals, and animal that bites things face off ๐
A flumph cleric of a previously unknown deity trying to convert the humanoid heathens.
Flail snail druid?
A human cleric of fertility, inebriation, and music.
A female human cleric with a past (ex-thief). She is trying to reform and appears angelic, till she has to take a life to protect innocents.
Ooh, I agree with Andor. Painful healing would be fun- and it could spark a rivalry between her and Ch’p
I’m thinking male human or elf. Jaine seems to have more of a thing for Dhur than she’s really comfortable with, but having an alternative apart from Ch’p might test that.
As for class… well, if this was 3rd edition or earlier, they’d be crying out for a divine spellcaster. In 4th ed, Jaine as a bard fulfills the leader role, but they’re missing a controller. A druid would therefor fit regardless of which edition they’re actually in. ๐
I vote for cleric!
Anyway, I thought it was Jaine and *Her* Amazing Friends :p
@Susie: re: Jaine and her Amazing Friends: That is an excellent point. ๐
Kobold Shaman? They’re good for comic relief. And they’d be leader/Controlers/Defenders in 4e, and would be a divine caster in 3.5
A true Neutral Cleric of Mischief/Trickery,…. randomly steals stuff or plays pranks and when caught says “I am Divinely sanctioned by ___________ and his/her church to do what I just did” or “_________________ has ordained that I commit this minor crime,… oh its against your laws,..too bad Divine law trumps Mans law every time”,….lol
I was thinking of something similar. A thief who took religious vows to avoid a life sentence. Now they’re officially a cleric but keep having lapses. Every so often these violations add up to the point where the autopenance clause in the vows kicks in. When that happens, the character is forced into such things as silence, crawling everywhere, cleaning everything, self flagellation, or having to ask pwemission to do even the smallest thing. These penances usuall last a day but can go on for as long as a month.
I’m thinking a human cleric of whatever deity values honor and valor in combat in this universe. Make him a part time blacksmith and martial scholar, in addition to a handy dandy healer. He could talk about combat styles and techniques with Becky and Ch’p, try to convert Dhur, and debate with Jaine about magic and history. Not to mention being able to repair Dhur’s axe and Becky’s armor and sword.
Clerics are a dime a dozen. I think a druid would be a good idea.
Someone suggested a male character that might test her feelings toward Dhur by providing an alternative love interest. If you’re considering that direction with Dhur and Jaine, why not introduce a rival instead. A female half-orc maybe?
Well as far as divine casters go, clerics are far too common in adventuring parties. I wanna see a druid, maybe a wild elf.
human female cleric of whatever Goddess of love, fertility and sex.she is a healer but has an interesting series of rituals and holy books.
I was thinking we could use a Draconian Bard with a lisp, lol. Or possibly he has a beautiful voice and people dont expect it from someone who looks as he does. He could be more lizard like than humanoid maybe, still walking upright but hunched over a bit with a long tail.
He could be an outcast from the Draconian race and have a bit of a problem dealing with that. Would be cool if he was a bit of a loner, but grew to become a member of the group.
Just a different idea than all the Clerics and Druids out there. Those ideas are great as well though. Cant wait to see what you come up with.
Love the comic!!
