590 – Vague Rewards ‘R’ Us!

After all the crap that’s been thrown at our little band o’ heroes, I thought some rewards were in order. Oh, and yes, Dhur was functionally illiterate (once he has something read to him, he’ll remember it, but otherwise…) He will probably use this new gift to find out just how much he’s been overcharged at restaurants and bars. Havoc will ensue. 🙂

Take care,

~Rob

Three years later, Dhur is a helpless addict of cheap romance and adventure novels.

Six years later he writes his memoirs – in the only style he knows.

Eight years later he has to buy a third stable block to house his growing collection of gold plated, winged riding hogs.

Sometimes he wonders where it all went wrong. Or right. He’s not quite sure which.

@AndyW: I love this comment so much, you have no idea.! 🙂

I think Dhur may have information overload to deal with for a few days. I have to question if Dhur is not only literate, but super literate. If he can read and understand any writing, he will be very busy translating for a magicians guild.

Happy stuff!
Except, it looks like Ch’p is leaving the party, no?

Batguy: Nonsense! They’re going back to the monastery with him! His superiors will decide the direction of his future at that point.

More to the point, she specifies that his help there is “sorely needed”. Suggests there might be a crisis brewing where the team will also be needed.

Ermm, and how do explain Dhur reading the board for NEW jobs, after returning to town, in pages 30-31?

Not so innocent question. But hey, the good news is that the going has been so long that forgetting about it is understandable. Hope the comic goes on years more!

@Yakumo he was probably picked up a few words here and there but not enough to count as being literate. He could have been looking for the key words he knew to pick a job like ‘ruins’ and then asking the bartender to give him the rest of the details.

@Nobody
Could work

Yeah, no guys. Call a retcon a retcon, or, more likely, a one off gag that bites the rear later on. Because “What’s a ‘transcriptionist’?” means characters that you sound out and that Dhur can sound out the characters.
