Disparoxus and Day’l are clearly quite the combo. Not only did they discover the location of the Verdant Mantle before our beloved heroes (although, they have had a large amount of time to work), they predicted that the Archmage would send a singular bodyguard to meet with Jaine. They also guessed this at least two days prior to our party coming to Westhame, and, perhaps they even waylaid the most likely candidate for bodyguard, depending on what the components of a polymorph potion in this universe are.

The old “Sleep Potion In A Gaseous Format” trick, eh?

Dispy works much faster than I would’ve expected. I’d have thought Day’l wouldn’t show up for several adventures, and it looks like he was already being inserted into the bodyguard role before they teleported to Westhame. Unless the real Philonoth is lying a ditch somewhere…

Wouldn’t the voice give him away to the super hearing ears of C’hp?

Brahmir The Bronze on October 19, 2012 @ 3:36 am

Dun Dun Dun!!!!!!!!!

Suddenly, all my love for philonoth is gone.

Andor on October 19, 2012 @ 4:58 am

WAIT DAY’L!!! That’s not the sleeping potion that’s the….*SMASH!*….love potion. Okay, now we stop what we’re doing and flee from Duhr as quickly as we can…

APStorm on October 19, 2012 @ 7:12 am

For those unsure as to the nature of a ‘real Philonoth’… I’m going to assume that the message ‘stone’ that was displayed earlier on in the story was perhaps on said ‘real Philonoth’, and used to make them believe the imposter was, in fact, sent from Jaine’s father and thus trust him as an ally.

There might be some clarification on this point later on, but it just seems like something we can glean from existing information, anyway.

Well. Didn’t see THAT coming! It raises a great many questions. Looking forward to seeing the answers Sir!

Day’l is turning out to be quite the chemist. I am excited to see what he whips up next.

Charvale on October 19, 2012 @ 9:32 pm

Now that’s what I call an expert diversionary tactic! I had a feeling that Day’l was going to be back sometime in the future, but I never suspected that it would be this soon!

Stardrake on October 20, 2012 @ 6:15 am

@APStorm: Alternatively, it’s just that Day’l knows the Archmage enough to make a convincing fake. Being a public figure, the Archmage’s appearance and outward personality are probably well known enough (at least to those knowledgeable in elven politics) that anyone who can enchant a minor image and magic mouth into a stone could have created that.

Admittedly I knew something was up with Philo [I mentioned the creepy vibe I got when he seemed to not care that splitting the party is dangerous] but I did not foresee it was Day’l.

I can’t believe that I didn’t see this coming…
granted you did leave us with hints that you were introducing a new character to the cast. Well played sir, well played
