555 – What’s under THAT tree?

By the time you all read this, I will have just wrapped up a grueling 1400 mille-long drive from California to my in-law's place in north Texas for Christmas. By the way, just in case anyone has too much money and wants to spoil their favorite cartoonist (me), I'd really like to get a Cintiq 13HD for Christmas. I've been a fairly good boy this year. :)

Have a wonderful winter holiday of your choice (or no holiday - I'm not the boss of you) and I'll see you all next week with the last MeatShield strip of 2015!

Take care,

~Rob

  1. I hope you have a good Christmas. BTE, part of north Texas (Amarillo) is forecasted to have a blizzard (1-2 FEET of snow) Saturday night through Sunday.

  2. My own holiday was spent with in-laws on the Apache Reservation. Only an hour’s drive fortunately, but they had 36 inches of new snow.

Your request arrived too late. I just upgraded to a Cintiq Companion 2, but my two-year-old 13hd went to my kid already. You could challenge her for it in honorable combat, but I don’t recommend it.

    1. @Uncle Bilbo: I’m a draw-er, not a fighter . May she find many hours of enjoyment and self-expression with it. One day, though, I will know the joy of drawing on a Cintiq. I have a Intuos Creative Stylus for use with my used iPad, but it’s not the same – it’s like drawing with a mushy crayon.

  3. I assume you know the feel of the Cintiq. I do both 2D and 3D work for game design and I prefer the Cintiq, but there are some things (like 3D wireframe construction) that just feels better on the Intuous. I run the Cintiq in docked mode on my main computer and share an Intuous through a KVM switch on my main computer and multimedia machine, with another Intuous on my render farm, three dual Zeon workstations.

Regarding your comic. When I was like 22 years old, I consulted on D&D and Mystara in the final months of TSR’s independence. Over the next few years I got overloaded on Sword and Sorcery games. I hate Gamer-based comics with a passion, but I really like this one. That is meant as very high praise!
