I remember when I was a kid learning D&D and coming across the Fireball spell and the material component needed to cast it: bat guano. I then had to look up the word "guano." I remember my teachers being impressed by my vocabulary in elementary school. Small wonder, since I read comic books and played D&D; by 4th grade I knew about the Van Allen belt, mutants, cosmic rays, gamma radiation, and bat guano.
It's no wonder I didn't date much in high school ;(
Take care,

I don’t recall any mention of you switching the comic out of 4E-based assumptions, so… she’s taken the wizard multiclassing feat, then?
Guano is a good source of potassium nitrate. KNO3 is a primary ingredient for black powder and C4. I can see why it’s a spell component for fireballs. The improvised munitions manual comes in handy. I wonder if the Elves have similar publications.
Heh… Sooooo. That one original Star Trek episode… the one where Kirk has to make
an improvised explosive weapon to kill the Gorn… he was using alien bat droppings, perhaps?
Yeah… don’t mind me… my braincell often wobbles off into it’s own little world. 🙂
Also: lovin the evil little smirk in panel 4.
Eli…
It is a bit sad but quite true that when wizarding, the word “plan” is more often than not interchangeable with “fireball”.
Area effect spells: The great equalizer. ^_^
