453 – Pit Trap!

My hand is better now, although still not 100%. Fortunately, I've now finished all the wands for our Halloween costumes. Anyway, I figured you folks would like to see what I darned neared ruined my hands making. Presenting the Wand of The Mighty Rob:

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="375"] 13 inches long, mesquite with sasquatch hair core, somewhat flexible.[/caption]

You can't tell because of the light I used, but there is scrollwork on the handle. Also, bear in mind that this thing started out as a mesquite branch about 1 3/4 inches in diameter, which I managed to whittle down to the toothpick you see above. I made a wand for my wife's costume also; she has decided that her wand's Ollivander-style description is as follows: 11.5 inches long, mesquite with jackalope hair core, slightly rigid. God, I love that woman. :)

Take care,

~Rob

    1. @Mike Lewis: That sounds like a club I’d join. ‘Course, I’d have to join as an illusionist, not a full mage, because of my art skills, but still… Wonder what the dues would be and if I’d have to pay in dollars or galleons?

  1. @Strykor: Kobolds, obviously. Kobolds are very dangerous for reasons that I will let Rob show you, instead of spoiling what I expect to come.
Rob has already given you at least three clues to suggest why kobolds are so dangerous: They’re small. They’re tricky. They build a lot of traps.
ps — I haven’t seen Dhur’s axe in a while, now…. maybe he has Toon Pockets?

  2. Hi! I’m back from the dark side of the moon and need to do major catch up.

Love the wand. My own is 13 inches of poison sumac with a Carrot Top hair core. Very springy.

    😀

  3. Next time, just buy one online – there are many HP-type wooden wands that are reasonably priced, saving you a lot of personal effort (and sore hands).
