I would have had this cartoon up earlier today, but I had my first "Oh Crap, I lost my kid!" moment today. I was picking my daughters up from school today and normally, they walk the kids out to a valet line to be picked up or they can let them cross the parking lot to a small grassy area where some of the parents wait for their kids. Anyway, I was waiting on the little mini-lawn and my daughter Emma walked across to me, while my other daughter, Nicki, was nowhere to be found. Upon asking the teacher where Nicki was, the teacher had a "deer-in-headlights" look which officially scared me - she had no idea where Nicki was at. One of Nicki's classmates then said that Nicki had forgotten her backpack and went back to the classroom to get it. I ran over to the classroom on the other side of the school and Nicki was nowhere to be found. Fortunately, she had passed me going the other way (which, given the way this school was designed, is possible) and her teacher kept her there until someone could be sent to get my panicky butt. So, everything turned out OK, but.... hooo boy, did that scare the crap out of me.
OK, fear-triggered adrenaline has finally subsided. I need to go take my three favorite girls out for Valentine's Day.

ok on second thought forget Heavy metal,… I had forgotten for a minute what all was in Heavy Metal just remembering there was a big bald space barbarian dude in it. I know our illustrious Author/Artist prides himself on a clean comic so ,..yeah,..forget the Heavy Metal,… but there are still the other three options,…lol

Weeeeeellllll,….. I think the fact the teacher was clueless as to where she was would have made me [who have yet to have kids] go a little wild,…. once the classmate told me she had gone back for her backpack I would have calmly walked back for her,……but thats just me,…
@FSilvermane: True, but with the recent rash of child molestation cases that have cropped up out here in LA, I was… concerned. If you haven’t heard about them where you are, Google it. Scary stuff.

Wow Rob, I keep forgetting not everyone lives in a rural area like me where everyone knows everyone else,..and that not everyone is used to being around Rennies [and Rennie kids] who fully subscribe to the idea of “it takes a village to raise a child”,… where everyone looks out for each other and each other’s kids. I fully understand why you became panicky what with whats happening in area and such,… and I probably would have gone farther and “thoroughly questioned” the teacher as to why she had no clue where my child was [sometimes it helps to be the big long haired freak,…lol],….

Once upon a time, when I was a Sunday School teacher, two parents who drove separate vehicles to church because one had to come early for practice each thought the other had picked up their kids. About an hour later they met at home and realized their mistake! Queue two very apologetic and relieved parents when they got back to the church and found their kids still in the room with us.
