295 – Run away?

UPDATE - 12/14/11 - Don't worry, I'm working on the next comic. :) I just wanted to put up a notice that today is the LAST DAY to get 25% off on The Quest for the Scepter Thingie by using the code BUYMYBOOK305. After the 14th, this code will no longer work. You'll still be able to buy the book, just not at that sweet discount. Just FYI.

I had something totally cool happen last Sunday. I was at church and after the services, one of my fellow parishioners came up to me holding not one, not two, but THREE copies of The Quest for the Scepter Thingie! He told me that he had one copy for himself, and was giving the other two as gifts and asked if I would mind signing them.

That was the first time I've EVER autographed any of my work before, and I gotta tell ya, it was awesome. It also gave me an idea. By this point, if you ordered a copy of the book when it launched, you probably will have received it by now. I would LOVE it if you all would post a quick picture of you and your copy to the Facebook Fan Page (see link to the left of this blog post). It'd be kinda nice to have faces to put with the names and to find out how far across the globe the book has made it to. Thanks. :)

See you all on Wednesday or thereabouts!

~Rob

  1. little round iOun, v 3.14
anyway, i had a little kobold rogue optimised for sneaking and running away that I played for exactly one encounter. our party was fighting an owlbear (yes our dm reads oots)and getting our butts kicked. I couldnt get through its ac, I ran away to hide. i go around a corner and get killed by 7 orcs all of whoom beat me in initiative. only 4 attacked me before i died because they all got crits. my party “hears a scream and orc-like war cries from around the bend” the mage kills the owlbear in one hit from a liches hand he found on the ground (finger of death type deal). the party walks around the corner, wins initiative, mage casts a mass sleep (homebrewed) and the fighters have a contest to see which one can decapitate more orcs. oh, they also loot my corpse

  2. awww come on,…. its not like the LoreKeeper said Gloomvault Keep was his trap filled home/laboratory the entrance of which was located in the middle of the Necropolis of the 10 Deadly DemiGods of Lichdom and whose actual location is a pocket dimension of * the Lord of Unspeakable Horror and Madness whose very name is a killing word,….lol

  3. Well they could always politly ask for the dagger and bring him a plate of cookies. This necromancers trap filled home can work two ways as well. 1)to keep the undead in. 2) to make fresh bodies to raise from the dead.

  4. theres also the third way, the traps get in the way of the undead more than the briefly living that they’re trying to eat…

  5. Just ordered my copy of “The Quest…” today – I can’t wait for it to arrive! It’ll be fun to re-read the story from the beginning, and using my very own copy of it!

Thanks for doing this strip, Rob. It’s one of the highlights of my week!

  6. Clairvoyance strikes again,…. I knew I was psychotic,..I mean psychic,….but geez,….lol. BTW I will laugh if there IS a * the Lord of Unspeakable Horror and Madness whose very name is a killing word in this eventually,….
