252 – Keep your eyes on the prize

EDIT: 8/18/11 - I know this will only apply to one reader, but since I can't seem to get ahold of him or her any other way... Mongoose (or holden), please check your inbox. The answer to your question is right there.

By the way, just in case you might have missed it, there is now a Pronunciation Guide for MeatShield. I made it because, after nearly two years, there have been a lot of weird names bandied about and I figured that it might make everyone's lives easier. Not a lot easier, mind you - I can't guarantee that it'll help you land that new job or lose those last few pounds, but you never know! You can access the Pronunciation Guide from the menu bar up top or by clicking HERE. Let me know if I missed any that you've been curious about.

Okay, back to work! See you all on Friday (or tomorrow, depending on when you read this)!

  1. The little detail that made this one perfect was the “Two Hours Later…”

It was funny enough as is (I’m a guy; if you leave out the murder part, I’ve been in this scene before … too often!) and it’s also good character development. But that little addition says a lot by saying a little!

  2. Hey Rob –

Just an observation: What does Becky’s question in the first frame mean? Are the words correct, or am I just reading it wrong?

    Awesome strip!

    1. @Jason: I’ve been trying off and on to write Becky’s dialogue with a little bit of vaguely Scottish-Irish phrasing. So if someone is “after being hungry” they’re hungry. In this case, “Are you after being all right” means “are you all right?”Blame David Weber, I got the idea from his excellent novel Oath of Swords, which you can read entirely online here. I should probably knock it off, since I often forget to have her speak that way. Oh well. 🙂
