Phew! I feel a lot better.
Work continues apace on the first MeatShield book, The Quest for the Scepter Thingie. One of the things I had promised was D&D 4th Edition stats for Dhur, Jaine and CH'p. Since such stats would be making use of intellectual property of Wizards of the Coast, I contacted WOTC to determine if I would be stepping on any toes, from a copyright and/or trademark standpoint. I was contacted by their associate brand manager, who asked what I had in mind. I wrote her back and... nothing. It has now been two weeks and I have yet to hear back from her. So, what may happen is either I remove the D&D write-ups completely, or I make 3.5 rules versions of them, since I'm told that the 3.5 rules are open source.
That's about it. See you all on Friday!

3.5 is not technically open source. It’s similar to the Creative Commons license used by flickr and Wikipedia.
Here’s the actual license and a good resource for what exactly you can use:

Hmmm. It’s starting to look like this might be more trouble than it’s worth. Time to go to Plan B… as soon as I figure out what Plan B is. Thanks, Jordan. 🙂
You could use anything with OGL. Including Pathfinder, which is very close…
Dhur going straight for the biscuits. Ah the classic fighter vs mage battles over food. Or is that just in The Slayers anime? Meh, either way fighting and magic use lots of energy.
