167 – Dhur: Master of Pig Latin

I get a lot of spam in the comments for this site. Some of them are entertaining, as they make me wonder just who in the world would be motivated to click on the links left there. In one spam comment, I ran across the following:

  • we need colon cleanse
  • inside diptheria colon cleanse
  • you are a colon cleanse

Really? I'm a colon cleanse? Man, here I thought I was an Episcopalian. OK, Mr. Random Spam Generator, I'll take your word for it.

So, anyway, like I said, I get a lot of spam, and most of it is caught by filters. However, sometimes a legitimate comment gets caught in those filters and I don't realize it until after I've already deleted the comment. So, whoever it was that left a comment recently talking about last year's snow storm in North Texas and how Dhur reminds you of someone you used to game with, I accidentally deleted your comment. Sorry about that.:(

Once last thing, then I'll let you loose into your Friday: Sometimes I will edit the comments that are left here, but I do so sparingly and it is only for the following reasons:

  1. You've included an email address (not your own) and I want to preserve that person's privacy unless and until  they tell me otherwise, or
  2. There is little to no punctuation used, in which case I will go in and clean it up so that everyone can read your comment in the way that you intended,

That's usually about it. Any abusive comments or comments written in leetspeak are sent to the land of wind and ghosts, and thankfully there have been few of those.

Have a good weekend, everybody!

  1. Trivia: While the word “orc” is best known from Tolkien’s use, its derivation is cloudy. One possibility is from Pictish, still seen in the name “Orkney Islands”, where “Ork” = “boar” or “wild pig”.

Hence it is entirely logical that Dhur, as a half-org, might know “Pig Latin” as an ancestral tongue 😉

    1. @Rewinn: Sir, that was so well thought out, you can consider that canon. Dhur can speak Pig Latin. Now, the question remains, can he speak it well?

  2. That was a ugly storm in North Texas last year. I also said I really like the comic. When I found it I read it start to finish in one sitting good stuff, and Yes Dhur reminds me of a old gaming buddy of mine. Hope this one makes it through.

  3. Damn subtle of Dhur to pick up on Jaine’s play. Has she developed hand signals for him, like those for communicating with the great apes?
