Odds he just smashes it with a hammer?
Smashing it with a hammer seems viable, but you don’t want to do that in case there is a priceless fragile relic inside. It would be cool it there was an object inside worth the 1,400 gold and enough to reduce Philo’s sentence.
Let me guess. An itemized bill would read “Smashing the plaque with a hammer – 1 gold. Knowing where to strike with the hammer to break the soulbinding- 1399 gold.”.
That said, the upside of this is that Jaine is getting a crash course in why Dhur’s attitude towards loot is more sensible then she’s realized. ^_^
The real upside of riding hogs as opposed to, say, horses? If you get stranded without any other food source and have to slaughter your mounts, bacon tastes much better than horsemeat. ^_^
And I advise against gold-plating the tusks. Steel, tungsten carbide, magically-hardened orichalcum… all much better choices.
