611 – The Queen Dowager

Ah, Aniera, I’ve missed you. I guess she changed her mind about marriage. Sadly, however, this DOES mean that Jonus would be Jaine’s step-brother… if he hadn’t been disowned and thrown back into his prison cell.

Take care,

~Rob

Sudden surprise! Boy, her folks like to spring big news on her.

Some might consider it suspicious that the King dies just after his mistress is legitimised and impregnated… not necessarily in that order.

@Stardrake: Not sure how “just after” this is. When we consider how much time passed between falling into and falling out of this weird sparkly tunnel, it might have been a while between marriage and conception. We do have a fairly hard limit on time between conception and the death of the King, but then it wouldn’t be the first time a child was born posthumously.

Well, Aniera looks like she’s pretty late in the pregnancy, so it does seem like there has been some time dilation going on. Nevertheless, the king’s death did appear to happen between her falling pregnant and the birth… which does set a firm limit on at least some of the timing (they’re both human this time, so it can’t be handwaved be Elves having long gestation periods or anything like that).

From what I recall of Aniera’s previous appearances, I don’t think she’s the type to have her husband killed to seize power. But there could well be somebody who feels that they might benefit from spreading rumours to that effect…

@Stardrake – it’s been about three years since they saw her last, so that doesn’t seem like much of a rush.
