96 – No, I meant — Gahh! You know what I meant!

And now, in a continuing service, an entry from the Encyclopedia Ardrisia.

Vedris

Located at the mouth of the Fiarna River, Vedris is a city where information is currency, knowledge has power, and being called a sidewinder is actually a compliment. The capitol of the nation of Mikiltuum, Vedris has a well deserved reputation as The City of Serpents. The reasons for this are two-fold: First, the area  has long been home to countless species of snakes, large and small. Secondly, The Church of Vasra, God of Serpents and Secrets, is headquartered here. Long ago, a fundamentalist movement in Vedris prompted the faithful to undergo magical transformations into snake-human hybrids to prove their devotion. This magical alteration has bred true and now nearly 50% of the population are snakepeople.

Many of the faithful dress in multiple colors so as to emulate the iridescent scales of Vasra’s chosen ones. This preference for clashing colors and styles has extended to the city’s architecture, so much so that many new visitors are warned ahead of time to wear eye protection so as to avoid triggering epileptic seizures. Vedris is a known center for learning, especially medicine and linguistics, and the area has two seasons: Unbearably hot and humid and summer, which is worse.
