360 – You could say you’re sick or something!

I had something like this happen to me last week. One of my daughters asked me if I could just tell my boss (who is me) that I could draw my comic strip later and play with her now. Yeah, that made me feel about two inches tall. Sometimes, when there’s a delay in the comic strip, it’s because I say to myself “they’re not going to be little forever, and when they turn 15 they’ll either hate my guts or think I’m a moron, so I better take advantage of this time now.”

Good advice to any parent, I think.

Daa’w. Poor Mari, its not easy being a princess.

As for you, Mr. Rob, i demand you enjoy time with your family! Its not right you putting us over them ever, so never do it. (Not that you need my telling ypu of course.)

Sometimes I’m grateful I’m not a dad. I would cave so quickly under those circumstances.

Rob, i’m not even a dad and i learned that lesson a long time ago. 🙂 i miss my nieces and nephew terribly, too.

If they reach their “teens” and there Mother doesn’t take them out, they will always think you are a moron. The best you can hope for is “lovable” moron. When they reach about 18 they will start to think you may have a clue. When they reach 23 they will be amazed at how smart you have gotten over the last 5 years.

Ouch. Right in the heart.

On the upside girls tend to end up with guys that are like their dads. So always put family first, your comic fans can wait.

ALWAYS put family first. Your comic is fun, but we can wait! Like you said they won’t be little forever and you will miss stuff if you put work first!

The Forces of Good understand that you have to make time for the people that matter.

That’s what they tell me, and I choose to believe them. FoG wouldn’t like about something like that.

We Forces of Good always prefer that you put family first. We have no problem waiting. Go forth and play with the kids. 🙂

Always hard to balance life and only you and your family can judge if you are successful!

Your daughters are going to wait until they are 15? Gee, my four year old girl recently told me she hated me and hoped I would go away and never come back (I would not let her watch a show before bed time). When I did go away for a guys weekend two days later, she got very sad and apologetic. 🙂

I remember watching the Steve Martin remake of “Cheaper by the Dozen” and thinking that he ought to have told the big university athletic director, dean, regent, etc., “You guys would be ecstatic if you had somebody like Vince Lombardi running your team. He always told his team to think about only three things during the season — God, family, and the Green Bay Packers. Like Mr. Lombardi, I put God first, my family second, and my team third. If you guys think your record will ever come ahead of my family’s welfare, you are gravely mistaken.” Your work should support your family, but as long as they’re fed, clothed, and sheltered, it ned not overshadow them.

Oh, Mari, I feel for you so much. Sadly, life and bad guys are incredibly inconsiderate and won’t wait for people to spend quality time with their family.
